Halle Bailey delivered a poignant and purposeful speech at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards. He was also honored for his film work. She says that she had no expectations of exposing her child Hello to the world.
The event featured multiple social media videos in which Halle said on stage that there was no way in hell she could share her greatest happiness in the world with anyone. For her, Hello was a huge gift and also the biggest blessing. He had no obligation to expose her or her family to that unrelenting spotlight.
Halle also talked about the current state of the world and said that men try to impose their desires on women’s bodies. They didn’t have a single person on social media who could tell them what to share.
Halle asked some questions to the audience
Halle asked the audience, do you remember Zion David Marley, who came into the world from the queen named Lauryn Hill? Do you know how private Beyoncé was about her pregnancy? Every woman in the world has the right to do anything with her body.
The Color Purple actress also reflected on her experience when she stepped into the role of Disney’s Ariel. The character in the animated film is white, yet she described the brutal criticism she received for playing a mermaid as a black woman because she was black.
She said that her time as Ariel was her proudest moment and one of the moments where she learned two things about being Black in Hollywood. It’s a bit unfair and it can make you feel criticized just for even being in that place. The reason for that criticism is not that you are a bad actor or that you have performed poorly. Rather, it’s because you look the way you are.
Halle received a gift from 2023 as a baby boy
When Halle gave her speech, her speech was met with thunderous applause and cheers. It’s been two months since her announcement when she revealed that she and her boyfriend DDG welcomed Helo into the world in late 2023.

On January 6, Halle captioned an Instagram post that even though there is still some time left for the new year, 2023 has given her a very pleasant and lovely surprise which is to bring her son Halo into this world. She was welcoming her child into the world and saying that the world was desperate to know him. Her revelation confirmed the rumors of her pregnancy that had spread last year. At that time, many of her goons constantly asked her on social media whether she was pregnant or not.
