Production or Development
Meghna Gulzar is the director of a movie like Raazi, when she was on the sets of Raazi movie, she narrated a story on Sam Manekshaw. And he prepared a plan to make a film on that story. After listening to this story and hearing the director’s thoughts, Vicky Kaushal decided that he would like to play the role of this great hero.When the director started writing the film, he collaborated with famous writers Bhavani Iyer and Shantanu Srivastava for many years to write the story. She also met and interacted with Sam Manekshaw’s family. The film was announced for 2021 on Sam Manekshaw’s 107th birth anniversary.
Filming Criteria
Principal photography of the film began on 8 August 2022. The film took two years to complete, spanning four decades of Sam Manekshaw’s life and covering 13 locations in India.These places are – Mumbai, Pune, Jodhpur, Pataudi, Chandigarh, Ooty, Coonoor, Dehradun, Kolkata, Patiala, Srinagar, Pahalgam and Delhi. The entire team worked hard in this movie so that they could put their life into it, they completed it on 14 March 2023.

As powerful as this film is, its songs are equally powerful, its lyrics have been written by Gulzar and its music has been composed by famous musician Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Its first single titled “Badhte Chalo” was released on 13 November 2023. And on 22 November 2023, its second song “Banda” was released.
