Choe Son-hui is appointed as the North Korea’s First Female Foreign Minister
State media of North Korea reported on Saturday that Kim Jong Un appointed veteran diplomat Choe Son-hui as its first female foreign minister. Choe has served as the North’s vice foreign minister and now she is appointed the first female foreign minister -KCNA reported.
Who Is Choe Son-hui?
Choe Son-hui is best known as the Minister of Foreign Affairs for North Korea who previously served as the First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs. Choe has been appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs by Kim Jong Un on 11th June 2022 making her the first woman to hold the position.
Choe replaced Ri Son Gwon, a hardline former military official who previously led talks with the South.
